Optune uses Tumor Treating Fields (TTF), an innovative, scientifically-backed technology that delivers alternating electric fields to disrupt the division of cancer cells. This non-invasive therapy targets rapidly dividing cancer cells while sparing healthy tissue, offering a unique way to manage certain types of cancer.

The science behind Optune

TTF technology is backed by extensive clinical research, demonstrating its effectiveness in treating cancers like glioblastoma.

The results from randomised trials have shown that Optune can significantly improve survival when used in conjunction with standard treatments, such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy.

Proven effectiveness

The Optune device is powered by a rechargeable battery, with each battery lasting between 4-6 hours. Patients are provided with several batteries and a charger, so they can easily swap out a battery when needed throughout the day. For added convenience, patients can take a spare battery with them and continue their therapy while on the go.

The electrodes are replaced every few days, depending on the rate of hair growth in the area where they are applied. As hair grows, it can push the electrodes away from the skin, interfering with the electric field connection. Therefore, patients are advised to shave the area where the electrodes are placed regularly to ensure proper adhesion and optimal treatment.
